God, I offer myself to you, to build with me and do with me as you will.
Relieve me of the bondage of my ego, so that I may better do your will.
Take away my defects/sins, so that victory over them will bear witness to those I help in Your Love, Your Power, and Your way of Life.
May I do your will always.
This prayer of surrender is a different take on the 3rd step prayer from Alcoholics Anonymous.
I used defects/sins so that anyone could use the prayer. Use defects if you like because the word sin is so misrepresented in the west we have lost the real meaning.
I found this prayer so meaningful because It was everything I had ever wanted to say to God. It expresses my true feelings for what I want with my life. I want to give everything else up but Him. I think it also fits well with another prayer of surrender, the Prayer of St Ephrem which focuses on those parts of the ego I have the most trouble with.
Lord and Master of my life, take from me the spirit of laziness, meddling, ambition,
But give me a spirit of prudence, humility, patience and love.
Yes Lord and King grant me to see my own sins and faults and not judge my brother.
For You are Blessed forever and ever,
Amen.
When we surrender ourselves to God and let him change us, we will be changed. Not overnight or a quick fix as many people want. This takes time and effort. We have to wake up every day and ask God to help us surrender our wills to Him. Eventually
