Chapter 11
If someone comes and teaches you all the things written before, let them stay with you. If the teacher is corrupt and teaches something else to tear this down, don’t listen to them. If they teach to increase righteousness and understanding of the Lord let them stay with you.
Regarding apostles and prophets, act according to the decree of the gospel. Receive every apostle who comes to you like they are the Lord, but he cannot stay more than one day unless he is in need, then he may stay two. If he stays three days, he is a false prophet.
When an apostle leaves, don’t give him anything more than enough bread to make it to his next stop. If he asks for money, then he is a false prophet.
For every prophet who speaks in the spirit, you must not examine or judge. Every sin will be forgiven, but this sin will not. But not everyone who speaks in the spirit is a prophet, only those who act like the Lord. So, you can tell a true or false prophet by how he or she acts. No prophet will call for the Eucharist in the spirit then eat it unless they are a false prophet.
No prophet who teaches the truth but does not practice what he teaches is a true prophet. Every real prophet who has proved themselves acting toward the mystery of the church in this world, but does not teach others to do everything that he does should not be judged by you. His judgement is from God just like the prophets of old were.
Anyone who is in the spirit and says, “Give me money” or anything else, don’t listen to them. But if they say give to those in need, don’t judge them.
Chapter 12
Welcome everyone who comes in the name of the Lord. After you have examined them, you will know them because you know the difference between good and evil.
When a traveller comes to you, help them as much as you can. Don’t allow them to stay with you for over two or three days unless it’s necessary. If they stay with you, then they should work their craft and earn their keep. If they can’t find a job, help them as much as you can, but no Christian should remain idle. If they will not work, they are using Christ to make money. Beware of these people.
Chapter 13
If a true prophet settles among you they are worthy of support. Also, a true teacher is worthy of support, just like a laborer. Take the first part of the wine you make and the wheat you harvest and the meat you slaughter and give it to these people because they are your high-priests. If you don’t have a prophet living among you, then give these gifts to the poor. If you bake bread, give some of it to them just like this commandment. And when you open a cask of wine or oil, give the first part of it to the prophets. Give the first of you money, your clothes, and your possessions as it seems right to you, according to this commandment.
Chapter 14
Come together every Lord’s Day. After confessing your sins so that your sacrifice will be worthy, give thanks and break bread together.
You should allow no one who is quarreling with another brother or sister to join you until they have reconciled so that they will not defile your sacrifice. This is the sacrifice the Lord was talking about when he said, “At every place and time offer to me a pure sacrifice because I am a Great King and my name is Wonderful to all nations.”
Chapter 15
Appoint bishops and deacons worthy of the Lord from among you. Appoint men who are patient and not greedy, who are honorable and known by the community to be worthy because they will provide the same service as the prophets and teachers. Don’t look down on them but honor them along with the prophets and teachers.
Don’t correct anyone with anger but with peace like the gospel says. If anyone sins against another believer, don’t talk to them or listen to what they say until they repent.
Continue to pray, give money, and do good works that you do like it is written in the gospel of our Lord.
Chapter 16
Keep watch over your life. Don’t let your lamps go out and keep up your guard because we don’t know the hour of the Lord’s return. Come together often seeking the things that strengthen your souls. Because the entire life of faith you have lived will be for nothing unless you are made perfect in the last days.
In the last days the number of false prophets and corruptors of the gospel will increase. Believers will be turned into corruptors and love will be turned into hate, and when lawlessness increases they will persecute other believers and turn one another over to authorities. Then the deceiver of this world will appear as the Son of God and perform signs and wonders and the earth will be delivered to him and he will commit atrocities that haven’t been seen since the beginning of the world. At this time, all people will go through a trial of fire to prove themselves. Many will stumble and perish, but those who stand fast in their faith will be saved from this curse. After all this, the signs of truth will appear. The first sign is the opening in heaven, the next sign will be the sound of the trumpet, then the resurrection of the dead, but not all of them because as it was said, “The Lord will come and all the saints along with him.” Finally, the world will see the Lord descending on clouds from Heaven.
